U.S. BPH Procedures Overview
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) refers to an enlarged prostate gland. The prostate gland surrounds the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body. As the prostate gets bigger, it may squeeze or partly block the urethra, causing problems while urinating. BPH is common in aging men, and about half of all men between the age of 51 and 60 suffer from BPH. It has been observed that up to 90% of men over the age 80 years suffer from BPH.
