As a leader in your office, you need to do what you can to make people feel comfortable. Sometimes that means thinking outside of the box and going beyond the usual productivity and efficiency hacks. Everybody’s relationship with their job has changed and as a business you should be looking into how you can bring your community back together into the physical office, but in a way that keeps everybody comfortable.
Your employees may not be too happy with such a change but that doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate some fun into it. For example, you could offer free food and free lunches, or you could look at offering a massage in the office. That’s right, there are some businesses out there that do have a massage therapist on site and here’s why you need one.
- You put more of an emphasis on self-care and Wellness. Do you care about your team? Then you should care about them having a shoulder massage at least once a week, and that means having a therapist who can go from desk to desk and give people a short massage whilst they work. There is no hidden truth that is bigger than an emphasis on Wellness and self-care is going to improve relationships at work. Wellness is a $1.5 trillion market around the world. If you are not emphasizing your Wellness programs in your workplace, then how are you going to be able to offer better talent and retain the talent that you’ve got?
- Businesses respond to it. Imagine having to hire for your business. What is it that you have to offer that other people in your industry do not?Are you offering good salaries? So are they. Are you offering a great working environment? So are they. Are they offering a massage therapist on site? Probably not, but you could be. When you advertise the fact that you have an office massage therapist, you are telling people that you care about their well-being. This makes a big difference and other businesses will start to fall in line in your industry and respond to that.
- You’re going to lead your staff to focus on themselves. It’s important that you have an emphasis on well-being, as we’ve already mentioned, but it’s important that you are emphasizing this to your staff. You need them to be productive and hard working, but you can only do that if you can alleviate their stress. By having a massage therapist on site, not only are you telling them that you care about their well-being.But you’re telling them that they should be caring about it too.
It’s good for your people. When it comes down to it, having a massage therapist in your office every week, or at least every month, is going to be good for the people who work there. Not everybody sits comfortably at a desk, and while they should be talking about how they feel about ergonomics, they’re not always going to speak up and say if they’re feeling uncomfortable or not. When you have a massage therapist on site, the discomfort becomes your priority.
