Everyone gets anxious from time to time, however, some people find that they’re anxious most of the time. If you feeling anxious from the moment you get up in the morning, you should consider speaking to your doctor. Anxiety is an awful condition to suffer from but there is help available. In addition to seeing your doctor and getting help from them, you could also help yourself a little.Â
The tips you’ll find below could help to make your day-to-day life a little easier and even a little less anxiety-filled:
Make Sure You’re Getting Enough SleepÂ
The quantity and the quality of your sleep are important. You should ideally have 8 hours of good quality sleep each night. However, if you’re feeling anxious you could be finding it hard to fall asleep. Try to come up with a routine that will help you to sleep:Â
- Go to bed at the same time every nightÂ
- Ensure your bedroom is a comfortable temperature for sleepingÂ
- Ensure your bed is comfortable
- Don’t watch television or use your phone 30 minutes before you go to bedÂ
- Try to avoid alcohol and caffeine at least 1 hour before you go to bed
Ensure you Don’t Forget Your Appointments
If you’re feeling anxious about missing or forgetting appointments, make a note of them. Put them in your diary, on your phone, and on your calendar. Write the appointment on a sticky note, for example, and place that note where you’re going to see it.Â
If you have a doctor’s appointment coming up ask for appointment reminder calls as they can help you to remember.
Get a Bit of ExerciseÂ
Exercise is a really good way to deal with your anxiety. This is because it can help you to channel all of that energy. Try to exercise for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week. You do not have to do intense exercises, just make sure your heart rate increases a little. This will ensure you’re doing enough to get your body moving.Â
Exercise can also help you to feel better. This is because it increases your serotonin levels. Serotonin is one of your body’s ‘feel-good’ chemicals and it can help you to feel less anxious.Â
Try to Avoid CaffeineÂ
Caffeine naturally stimulates the body and it can help to wake you up in the morning. However, caffeine isn’t great for anxiety. This is because it can make you feel even more anxious. Try to avoid caffeine or at least minimize your intake every day.Â
The same can be said for alcohol, it isn’t great for anxiety. Alcohol has the potential to make you feel worse. If you can’t avoid drinking alcohol completely, try to minimize how much you have.Â
Anxiety is an awful condition to live with, but there are some things you can do to help yourself. Use the above tips to help make life a little easier for you, and you should soon start to feel better.
