A biopsy is a tissue or cell sample taken from any part of the patient’s body and examined in the lab for the detection of cancer. Liquid biopsy offers a real-time approach for the treatment of breast cancer. It is used for the collection and analysis of a sample of blood taken from the patient. Liquid biopsy uses body fluids as a sample for analysis, primarily blood. It analyses the presence of tumor cell-derived biomarkers such as circulating tumor cells, cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and their cargo proteins, and circulating cell-free RNA (cfRNA).
