New research out of the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville finds that patient portal usage has almost no impact on 30-day readmissions or mortality. But the researchers noted that portals may be better suited for chronic conditions, while better education, more pervasive adoption and mobile access could influence engagement.
