Hepatitis B is among the chronic Hepatitis conditions [1] that WHO is determined to reduce and eliminate through World Hepatitis Day, hosted every 28th of July. This campaign aims at raising global awareness of millions of people actively infected by hepatitis. In launching the theme last year, Hepatitis Can’t-Wait, WHO recognized the urgency to reach out, conduct HBV DNA tests, and educate about this liver condition that can affect anyone of all ages [2].
Why Can’t Hepatitis Wait?Â
Hepatitis testing and treatment cannot wait because of the following reasons:
- Hepatitis B damages the liver
Hepatitis B is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus(HBV). The condition begins as an acute infection that becomes chronic if left unattended for six months. As each day passes, the patient’s risk for liver cirrhosis (permanently scarring the liver resulting in liver failure) increases.
- Hepatitis B may lead to liver cancer eventually
Hepatitis B can be a lifelong viral infection that has haunted its victims for their entire lives. The worse is, the longer people suffer from chronic hepatitis B infection, the higher risk there will be for liver cancer, resulting in liver failure if not managed at its early stages.
- Hepatitis has reached too many and will reach more
Statistics show that in 2019, about 296 million people had fallen victims to chronic hepatitis B infection [3]. The studies also show that these numbers increase yearly, with about 1.5 million new conditions reported annually. Therefore, there’s an urgency to manage hepatitis B, or else many will fall victims to this deadly disease.
- Hepatitis B can be fatal
Of the 296 million hepatitis B victims, there were about 820,000 deaths recorded in 2019 alone [4]. Most deaths resulted from liver cirrhosis and primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma). To reduce such high numbers, people need to increase awareness of the condition, along with an HBV quantitative test.

The good news is that hepatitis B is preventable through several medical measures, including:
Vaccination
There is a hepatitis B vaccine that offers immunization against the HBV virus. It works for everyone [5], including pregnant mothers [6], premature infants, and those living with HIV/AIDS. It is administered in a series of different shots, and the first is given immediately after birth. After getting vaccinated, you have a 90% chance of not getting infected when exposed to the virus.
Hepatitis B vaccines are safe, but you might encounter some mild effects, such as fatigue, dizziness, fever, and headache.
For those exposed to hepatitis B and not sure if they’ve been vaccinated, it is best to seek medical help immediately. There are various treatment options, such as administering an immunoglobulin injection within 12 hours of exposure. However, this option offers short-term protection. So, it’s wise to get the vaccine.
Other treatment options for hepatitis B include interferon injections and several antiviral medications.
Diagnosis
If you notice some of the Hepatitis B signs and symptoms, it is better to get tested. This way, you can start treatment early and prevent the condition from advancing. Hepatitis B diagnosis involves blood tests to detect signs of the virus in the body and whether it’s acute or chronic. The doctor might also conduct a liver ultrasound and liver biopsy to check for liver damage.
However, the best way to diagnose the condition is using an HBV DNA diagnostic kit. Sansure’s HBV DNA test kit delivers accurate and reliable results through:
- Advanced magnetic beads technology ensures high sensitivity and wide linear range detection.
- Highly conservative primer-probe design that covers A-H genotypes and avoids missed detection.
- Its quality control system is highly efficient in removing carry-over contamination. In this way, the chance of false positive results can be minimized.
- HBV DNA test kit uses internal control to avoid false negative results.
Sansure’s diagnostic kit meets all the specifications, standards, and health requirements. Studies show [7] that the Sansure magnetic bead assay registered high reproducibility during a quantitative detection of HBV DNA test. Furthermore, the study concludes that the Sansure HBV DNA test kit is highly sensitive and more applicable than other HBV DNA test kit options.
Conclusion
Hepatitis B is a notorious infection that can lead to severe conditions if not managed earlier. That explains why Sansure is constantly renovating products to help screen patients effectively and produce accurate HBV DNA test results. In addition, the brand joins the WHO movement through its aim to eliminate all types of Hepatitis viruses by 2030.
Sansure is a recognized brand with leading HBV quantitative PCR section technology. Its mission is to provide accessible and innovative genetic technologies and innovative diagnostics for all, not Hepatitis B patients alone.
