There are so many failings that are going on in more workplaces than you realise. You might have worked in one or two already in your lifetime, which makes you realise how hard the working world truly is. But when it comes to healthcare, there are a whole new set of failings that can be presented, and when someone’s life or wellbeing is involved, the last thing you want to be doing is playing around with that. So we hope that the majority of you reading this are coming from some sort of healthcare background, and you can relate to the content in this article. You should hopefully want to be the best that you can be, no matter what healthcare role you have. Whether you’re a nurse, or an occupational therapist, the line of work that you’re in demands that you be the best that you can be. So, we want to talk to you about some of the failings, how you can avoid them, and how you can be the best that you can be.
Failings In Fitness To Practice
Fitness to practice means exactly what it says on the tin, it means that you have to be fit to practice and perform the roles that you need to perform. But when you actually look at a section of healthcare workers, it’s easy to spot that some might not be as fit to practice as you might think. People have social lives, and do what they want to do when they’re outside of work. This can involve excessive drink and drugs. But it’s rare that healthcare workers are ever actually alcohol or drug test employees, due to costs and other reasons. However, USA Mobile Drug Testing is more prominent, and you should be aware that testing can happen at any point for you. And besides, you should always make sure that you’re coming into work with a fresh body and mind, because people’s lives could be in your hands, and error is going to be so much higher than the morning after consuming drink or drugs.
Overworked & Underpaid
Being overworked and underpaid is something that so many people are suffering with at the minute, no matter what profession you look in. But the frustration it causes within healthcare can often lead to failings in care. People are overworked doing such long hours, and can often let the frustration and the lack of money, lead to errors due to simply not being bothered to do the work properly. So if you feel like this, focus on finding a role that pays more, and offers better hours. Or simply reduce the hours you are working to lose the overworked element of things. There’s always going to be a job out there that suits you, one you can do right, and one you feel comfortable! Even if it means retraining in something else. You also need to make sure that you’re getting the right amount of rests between shifts, and whilst you’re on one!
