It’s clear to all those in the medical industry that the current state of affairs cannot go on forever. Medical care is becoming too expensive and is on the verge of becoming unaffordable, even for middle-income Americans.

While the solutions to the problem are many, one of the main pillars will undoubtedly be improved healthcare administration and higher efficiency. The medical sector requires people who can organize the delivery of medical care at a lower cost without sacrificing the quality of care.

Of course, delivering this won’t just involve practicing existing processes to high standards, but creatively thinking of new ones. The medical sector needs people with an entrepreneurial persuasion to make changes to tired and dated organizational practices. It requires an “Uber moment” where it radically changes working methods to fit in with the needs of patients, not drug makers or other stakeholders in the industry. After all, the only reason why anyone is in the medical sector in the first place is to help people overcome their health issues.

The following infographic shows just how important it is that the sector as a whole improves administration efficiencies. The need for better practices scales all the way up the corporate hierarchy, from the work of receptionists to hospital management. The industry needs people with advanced degrees in healthcare management who understand how the system works and can make improvements.
